Phone calls:
Teachers make occasional phone calls during the day to let parents know about a positive event, a new skill achieved or a challenge their child may have overcome - so don’t be worried when you see the school number on your phone. We understand that parents want to be part of their child’s life even when they can’t be with them and sharing the successes of the day are as important as sharing the challenges. Teachers and parents can also set up a time to speak over the phone. Of course, we also call when necessary – if a child is ill or there is a challenge that we need to discuss.
Emails:
Teachers regularly send general and personal emails to parents. General updates about upcoming events, trips and presentations are emailed to parents. You will know via phone or email, if something significant happened or will be happening at school. Personal emails are sent when a teacher and parent want to communicate about a specific child and this is one of the ways that can be used.
Drop off and Pick up:
There is always a teacher present to warmly welcome the children into the school house every morning. If a teacher is available, she/he is happy to hear how your child is doing and if there are any specifics we should be aware of that day. At pickup time, when possible, a teacher will give you a brief update of your child’s day.
Bi-Weekly Reports:
Parents receive a report every 2 weeks from their child’s teacher. The report gives a summary of what the class has been learning during the past two weeks, what special events happened and what is in store for the next two weeks. To see report samples, please click below.
